A Place to Be is a one-of-a-kind unschooling initiative in Madeira where families can embrace freedom, self-directed education, and authentic community.
While their physical hub is still in the works, the project is already thriving through connection and collaboration. Its ideas and available resources perfectly capture their spirit and the future potential for various 'offerings' (you can see more on their website).
For any family looking for a healthy alternative to traditional systems, this is a fantastic project to follow, support, and maybe even join in person.
We’ve known about this project for a while—in fact, we’ve been lucky enough to connect with some of their members. This June, however, we finally met the founders in Prague. They shared with us great energy, and their wonderful self-published magazine: "The Toshi Times" (Kids Magazine, Issue 2) 📰 : 28 pages of short stories, tips, and simple games.
One story, "Satsquatch," charmed us completely. We loved it so much that we decided to make a short animation out of it 👇📺. We wanted to share it with you all and give it as a special thank-you to the authors of the original writing.
